Questions and answers
Using ClearDictate
How do I dictate?
Put the cursor where you want text, hold Fn (or your shortcut), speak, and release. A live preview shows your words as you go.
What are writing styles?
Casual, Formal, Code or Default, chosen per app. For example, Formal in Mail and Code in your editor.
How does the dictionary learn?
When you correct a dictation in History, ClearDictate suggests adding the word to your dictionary, and you choose whether to add it. The dictionary is stored only on your Mac.
Which languages are supported?
25 European languages, through NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3.

What happens if I use the OpenAI features?
Audio or text goes from your Mac straight to OpenAI using your own key, which is stored in the Keychain. It is off by default.
Requirements and IT
Does it work on Intel Macs?

Can IT block the cloud features?
Yes. Set ForceOnDevice in a configuration profile. See the deployment guide.
Is it certified?
No. We hold no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA certification. See Compliance.
