1Who we are

ClearDictate is made by Megakad xd ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. For the website and any email you send us, we are the controller. For dictations on your Mac, we process nothing, because nothing reaches us.

2What the app stores

Your History (recent dictations) is stored in the app’s Application Support folder on your Mac. Your settings and personal dictionary are stored in the app’s preferences on your Mac. If you add an OpenAI key, it is stored in the macOS Keychain. None of this is copied to us or to any cloud service.

You can search History and delete entries in the app. Your organisation may set how long History is kept, including not keeping it at all.

3Network connections

On first run, the app downloads its speech model (about 470 MB) from Hugging Face, or from a mirror your organisation runs. Like any download, the host sees your IP address. No audio or text is sent.

No other connections are made in on-device mode.

4Optional OpenAI features

If you turn on the cloud engine or Smart cleanup and add your own OpenAI key, your audio or text is sent directly from your Mac to OpenAI under your agreement with them. It does not pass through us. OpenAI’s own privacy policy applies.

These features are off by default. On managed Macs, your IT team can force them off.

5This website

cleardictate.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and the page requested) to deliver and protect it. We don’t receive or use that data for analytics.

6When you contact us

If you email us, we use your message only to reply. We keep support emails for up to 2 years, then delete them.

7Your rights

Under UK GDPR and GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete data we hold about you, which is at most your support emails. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

8Changes and contact

We will post any change here with a new date. Questions: privacy@cleardictate.com.
